The ThinkPad T510 has a “go down to work” appearance that has served the ThinkPad series of notebooks very well. The exterior finish is matte black, with a slightly elastic texture to increase the grip when you carry it around. The design includes many flat surfaces with sharp and accurate angles but still manages to stay comfortable to use for hours on end. The screen hinges are stainless steel, unlike models before two generations, equal in size on both sides. Inside, the appearance of all blacks continues with an elongated plastic headrest, the perimeter of the keyboard, and the edge of the screen. There are few, if any, glossy surfaces on the ThinkPad T510 which is great if you worry about the glare of the overhead lighting or the sun while you are outdoors.
